Hi iC-R Backers,
First as an additional strong reminder, it’s imperative that we lead this and future updates reiterating that any delays to release schedule are now largely tied to either safety impact testing & certifications (depending on your required cert) or electronics/RF testing & certifications.
This portion of product rollout is outside of our control, as there are numerous submissions by other companies to each certification entity. Progress is officially being made and the progress for each certification has been updated on our website.
Now; on to the updates.
Safety First:
- DOT certification – PASSED
- ECE 22.06 certification – Retesting is still underway after our teams modifications. Based on recent feedback from our manufacturer, final retesting are slated for the week of 11/11/24—if we receive approval sooner we will definitely report it sooner.
- SNELL certification – Our CEO recently spoke with the SNELL Foundation reps and we have the information we need in order to move to the next steps and submit for official certifications. Our CEO has one additional call scheduled for this week with the SNELL Foundation to validate some things around our battery, and then we will be good to submit. As another reminder, we submitted and passed initial prototype safety testing certifications for a number of test points. Official report details can be found in our 12.5 update HERE.
- FCCID certification – PASSED ahead of schedule
- CE certification – PASSED ahead of schedule
- RoHS certification – underway as of today
- UN38.3 certification – Est. commencement date of 11/06 or sooner. We’ve selected a lower capacity (4000mAh) and thinner battery to further improve the impact protection for this component (which is tied to our SNELL certification path forward), and make the overall helmet that much lighter.
Extended Beta Testing Update:
Our extended beta testing during this final phase of certifications continues and we’ve received some additional valuable feedback from backer Lexy DeVore & Brent Wallace. Below is a status update on current extended beta testers:
- Lexy DeVore – Backer #128 (In Progress)
- Chad Hartzog – Backer #140 (In Progress)
- Brent Wallace – Backer #6 (In Progress)
- Richard Greene – Backer #11 (Est. Shipping 11/04)
Other Updates:
- Software: is scheduled to be wrapped by the end of the month! We’ve received our semi-final stitching update from our dev team today. This will be implemented, we will obtain some final ride footage, and final tuning and optimizing will be wrapped up. Around the middle of next week we expect to be able to show our 240 degree RFOV to you all.
- Production:of our HW and helmets are still underway and fine tuning requirements have been passed along to our manufacturers for optimum manufacturing and assembly for the final v1.0 helmet models you’ll soon receive. One of those fine tuning requirements is our implementation of wrap around cheek pads to further improve on mitigating wind noise within the helmet.
- Shipping: DOT is on track for late November release (only pending UN38.3 certifications and production completion) / ECE & SNELL are realistically looking closer to late December/early January based on certification completion timeframe and production lead time for those safety cert models.
- Events: ICH will be exhibiting at CES 2025 (Jan. 7th-10th), and we also plan to exhibit at AIMExpo (Feb. 5th-7th). More details to come! We are gearing up!
We appreciate the continued understanding, patience, and support of those that do—as always!
-Team ICH
